ADVANCED - LESSON 1
Although this is in the advanced lesson section, this information should be helpful to any level musician. PRACTICAL TIPS 1. Be on time, (for everything) after all, isn’t timing our job? 2. Know the difference between rushing/dragging and beat placement. 3. Give counts in correct tempo and time signature; also consider pick ups. 4. Study enough to at least have a working knowledge of other instruments. 5. Study music theory. 6. Develop reading skills. Learn to read and write charts. 7. Always have duct tape. It is useful and necessary at times but the point is to be prepared by having supplies available such as sticks, heads, sleeves, felts, keys, tools, flashlights, snare drums, pedals, pencil, paper, maps, manuals, batteries, circuit testers, cables, timing devices and polishing cloths. 8. Save receipts and log mileage. 9. Specifically define goals. If you don’t have a deadline, you don’t have a plan. 10.PRACTICE!
